The story behind Safety Agent

What Loni Sullivan remembers most about that September day is the sound of the garage door slamming shut, as her boyfriend left for another of his solo adventures.

Matt Chesaux was a friend, a boyfriend, a son, a brother and an expert ski mountaineer, well versed in his own safety. His goal in 2008 was to ski ever month of the year. Though Matt always informed Loni of his plans, what he didn’t have that day was an automated system that would inform loved ones of his need for help, if he could not. When Matt went missing it became a confusing mix of those trained in search and rescue and those closest to him searching for his exact whereabouts, because specific information was limited.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

The idea for Safety Agent originally began simply because another friend of ours was tired of texting us about her internet date plans, we thought, there must be something out there that lets you set a pre-time alert if something goes wrong, there wasn’t.
